Is God a Liar? E-mail

Jessie DanielsThere are more then twenty-eight hundred different religious bodies that call themselves churches. All of which profess to be the church that Christ died for. Nevertheless, all these different churches teach different doctrines and teach that God has different plans of salvation. They have different organizational arrangements and differ on many other things with no scriptural authority. Paul says, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God.” (2 Tim. 3:16 ) Authority is derived from scripture. If the church can do anything to further the cause of Christ without scriptural authority, this would make God a liar. Because Paul says, “Whatever we do in word or deed must be done in the name (or by the authority) of the Lord.” (Col 3:17 ) When a policeman arrest someone in the name of the law, it means by the authority of the law. We all understand this principle. Why can’t we understand this principle when it comes to church government? It is the same principle.

The Bible is intended to direct man in how to be saved and to give him a pattern for the church. There are some that make the argument that it is impossible to understand the Bible. If this is true it would make God a liar, because Paul says “...keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.”(1 Cor. 11:2 ) Why would Paul tell us to keep them, if he knew it was impossible to understand them? Furthermore, Paul says we can understand, because it was made known to the apostles and prophets by the Spirit, and they revealed or (made known) those things to us. (Eph. 3:4-5 ) Therefore when one says we can’t understand the Bible alike they make God a liar. God is not responsible for the problem of religious division that belongs to men. God does not teach five different things on one subject. When men understand what God has said on any subject they will understand it alike.

Jesus said, “…whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”(Matt. 19:9 ) If you understand what God has said about adultery and I understand then we will agree on that subject. If one of us misunderstands we will disagree. Therefore, we will be in agreement when both understand what God has said on the subject. God does not change his mind on any subject. The person that believes we cannot understand the Bible puts themselves in a position where they cannot be saved. Jesus said, “…ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”(John 8:32 ) If one cannot understand the truth of God’s word, it would be impossible for them be saved.

God promised he would save them that believe and is baptized. Jesus said “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.”(Mark 16:16 ) Lets us pretend for a moment, when Jesus gave the great commission that he said, go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall receive ten thousand dollars. No one would misunderstand that. People would be lined up by the thousands to receive the money after baptism. There would not be enough time in a day to baptize all the people.

Do not accuse God of being a liar by refusing to accept his word!
